This online workshop will address research proposal writing for all the disciplines. We will discuss all the key aspects and will answer your queries. Presentations will be conducted on how to write a successful research proposal along with budgeting and analysis of sponsored project proposals. The workshop will be very helpful as it gave the audience a proposal reviewer’s perspective. A good proposal is a brief one which is well written with clear scientific and technical content. The scientific content must include the title of proposal; clear and testable hypothesis; aims and objectives; experiments to be done; drawbacks; preliminary data and relevant citations. Budget should be reasonable and it should include the cost for equipment, provisions for staff, consumables, travel/conference together with other contingencies.   

A research proposal is a document that provides a detailed description of the research project. The objective of this online workshop is to provide good knowledge of writing a research project, various types of funding agencies and grants. The research proposal describes what you plan to do, why should it be done, how will you do it and what results do you expect? This workshop is a milestone that will act as a catalyst for certain innovative minds by motivating them to plan writing proposals strategically.

About the Resource Persons

Dr. Chacko Preno Koshy is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam. He did his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering as well as M.Tech in Machine Design from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and PhD from National Institute of Technology, Calicut. His research group focuses on Nanotribology, Bio-based nano-lubricants and nano-fuels, Polymer-based nanocomposites, Synthesis of nanoparticles for lubricant applications and Bio-mechanics. His research group has been granted 2 Australian Patents for the innovations in 2021. 

He has published over 20 international peer reviewed journal papers, 42 international/national conferences. Presently, his lab possess seven sponsored research funding from various agencies like AICTE, CERD APJAKTU, KSCSTE. He has coordinated FDPs/STTPs funded by AICTE, APJAKTU and KSCSTE in the area of Nanofluidics, Tribology and Surface Engineering. He is an approved research supervisor of APJAKTU and also an Academic Auditor of the parent university. He has guided 5 M.Tech and 36 B.Tech scholars. Presently, he guiding 2 doctoral scholars under the parent university. Currently, he is a reviewer of over ten technical journals.
